Dogs that CONSTANTLY bark!
Question: There are three dogs across the street that do nothing and I mean nothing but bark at everything! If I open the back door to where I live they bark, if someone gets out of their car, they bark, if someone is simply walking across the street, they bark. I had Oscar in the backyard on Sunday and the dogs were in the house and somehow they could see Oscar and they were going nuts! They are a royal pain in the behind. I couldn't stand to have a dog(s) that bark at everything. To me, that is not a sign of a good watchdog. As a matter of fact, one of the dogs was off leash and a woman wanted to cross the street and the dog was barking up a storm! The woman was afraid to cross the street. The dogs are in their yard 98% of the time and come and go as they please. Now that the weather is warm, all I hear is barking! Answer: I would contact your city bylaw officer, the only thing you can do is have someone speak to the dogs owner, And more then likely if they don't prevent the dogs from barking they will be fined. Answer: Denise, in our old home we lived across the street from an irresponsible dog owner. They used to tie out their blind old German shephard who would bark at anything, even the wind. Occasionally they would leave him out untied and he would chase people biking or walking along the road, scared the crap out of many a kid and several adult neighbors. For some reason our bedroom was directly across and had an amazingly acoustic effect that sounded like the dog was in the room. It sounded louder in our bedroom than outside in the front yard. It was a weird phenomena and a royal pain in the butt. I called the police on them several times, but they really did not do much of anything. Finally, the stupid owner ended up driving over his own pet accidentally. I felt so sorry for the dog. The owners were just jerks! So basically, I can totally empathize with what you are going through. I hope your police will do more than ours did. Answer: i'm so glad lucy only barks occasionally. pretty much ONLY at delivery trucks or police/security cars. i swear, somebody could come in and rob us blind, but as long as they didn't drive any kind of delivery truck, they'd be fine, she'd welcome them with wagging tail. but heaven forbid FedEx deliver her dog food and she doesn't bark at the driver..it's the TRUCK if she gets loose (rare but it happens) she runs straight for the tires and goes NUTS..the driver can come and go as he/she pleases... poor freaky lucy *shakes head* Answer: Originally Posted by najiwench i swear, somebody could come in and rob us blind, but as long as they didn't drive any kind of delivery truck, they'd be fine, she'd welcome them with wagging tail. but heaven forbid FedEx deliver her dog food and she doesn't bark at the driver..it's the TRUCK if she gets loose (rare but it happens) she runs straight for the tires and goes NUTS..the driver can come and go as he/she pleases... * Answer: You have a very unique dog! I forgot to add when the dogs are in the backyard, the back door is open so they are free to come and go as they please. Sirius has the same passion for the FedEx truck. UPS won't deliver out here any more after he scared the poo out of the driver. Unfortunately, Sirius also has a hatred for flipflops and heavy boots- noisy shoes. And, ironically enough, two summers ago, our house WAS broken into- one morning while I was napping with a headache and the kids were away for the week. I woke up to the sound of banging- thought one of the cats was up to something- was actually someone kicking in my back door. Luckily when I awoke and yelled at the cats to stop, the intruder ran away. Where were Sirius and Lila? Asleep on the front porch. We used the same joke- if the would-be thief had come in a Fed-ex truck, they would have never made it into the yard! Answer: suggest they buy a barking collar. They seem to work (or at least when the dog is wearing it!) Answer: Originally Posted by duster suggest they buy a barking collar. They seem to work (or at least when the dog is wearing it!) ? you mean one of those things that shocks the dog when they bark? i don't agree with those AT ALL. sorry, it's a short cut for people who won't take the time to properly train their pet, or who own a pet that is not suitable for them or the place they live. i don't like the no bark collars, i don't like the shocking collars for boundaries, none of that stuff...i don't think electrocution is a training mechanism Answer: A barking collar is usually a spray, like citronella. Not a shock collar Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
