Have any of you heard of a dog food, Nature's Variety? I recently joined a Pit Bull forum and they have an abundance of good information on the website. I asked a question about food and so far the members that responded said NV is better than Wellness or Canidae.

Hmm, I thought I recognized the name as earlier we were checking out the new pet stores that just opened up, but I think the one we saw was Nature's Recipe because I know the first few ingredients, while not corn, were certainly meat by products... According to Nature's Variety's site :

"Meat is the first ingredient in each formula. Meat and organs make up over 40% of the ingredients in each production batch of Nature’s Variety. Most dry kibble diets are 25 to 30% meat or meat and bone products with some formulations even containing less than 10% or even no meat products."

Nature's Variety/Prairie is a great feed. They make pre-prepared frozen diets as well as dry and wet food. Their dry and wet foods are comparable to Canidae and Wellness, however the frozen, raw diet is far superior (no surprise there).

We have feed the wet food to both the cats and the dog and they love it. I don't have much experience with the dry food...just that a friend of mine used to feed it.

The feeds store I purchase the chinnie's bedding from carries Nature Variety. I don't know what food Tamara is currently eating but if it isn't good quality, I am going to ask the shelter if I can switch.
