Dogs who soil their bed
Question: just a thought,,,,,since they were trapped in a small cage....they really had no choice out to pee and do whatever else in their bed,,,,do you think they go back to it because its "familair" thats the only thing i can think of,,,,or it could be some sort of anxiety,, Craig and I took the obys to Bathurst Friday night and we decided to leave sasha home alone,,we usually take her with us but I said shes gotta get used to being alone some times so she doesnt have seperation anxiety,,anyways when we came home I did a check ,,,and she never chewed anything and as far as we could see she only peed once in the hallway,,,,,we were surprised,,she was left for 6 hrs and we figured she would have the plce tore apart but when I went over to her bed I noticed it was wet and i relized she had peed all over it,,,,,I think she was mad and for some odd reason took it out on her bed,,,lol Answer: Shannon, I hope it's not an infection It doesn't happen everyday, just once or twice a week. Any symptoms I should look out for? I have not read much stuff about dogs getting UTI yet, but I will to make sure that is not the reason. Brandy, I think that is part of the problem, they might have become used to peeing on their bed But they are very clean and if they pee on one spot they won't sleep on it unless it's dry then they might walk on it but not sleep on it. The night when my friend brought her friends over I thought it might have been some anxiety because the girls might have thought that my friend was taking them back or there were too many people here at once. That was the night Ally peed on their bed in front of us and again during the night and the next day. These two are too bad with seperation anxiety, as long as I don't make a big deal of walking in and out they are okay, if I say 'bye, be good girls' then they whine at the door. We haven't left them home alone too many times, when I was working on the weekend, Josh was home with them. I've gone out for a few hours and they are also fine, no peeing then. Just at night, maybe they have an anxiety attack and freak out? Josh thinks one of them is peeing in their sleep (we suspect Ally is the peeing culprit but no confirmation) and don't know they are doing it. Hehe, I think Sasha did take out her frustration on the bed, poor bed, lol! I feel like getting an apartment sized washer from the Salvation Army so I can do laundry at home, rofl! Answer: Oh I didn't want to scare you, it just popped up in my mind, hope that isn't the problem though Answer: Don't worry, Shannon, I just make myself paranoid sometimes, hehe Answer: thats a good idea Diana that way you can do laundry when you want,,,,,,,,to me it sounds like anxiety, stress or something along that line,,,you really havent had them for long,,,,they were in their cages, then the SPCA then your friends than between you, your friend and another girl, then the owner had other people move in who were mean to them then back to you then back to her now back with you permantly,,,,I think they've been through alot and they are just atking a little extra time getting adjusted to theor new forever home,,,,,, I'm sure you will get it under contorl Diana........poor girls Answer: You are right, Brandy, they have been thru a lot! I think in another month they will understand that they are staying here for good and relax a bit In the meantime, thank for god for garbage bags, lol! Answer: Just a quick update, ever since I took the rug away they have been GREAT with potty training. I think they just figured it was easier to go on the rug because it's hard for me to see the stain. Ally also stopped going on the futon after I wrapped the mattress with heavy duty garbage bags and gave them towels to sleep on instead of putting the bedsheet and then towels on top of that. I am thinking of getting them a hard plastic dog bed and lining it with towels and letting them sleep in that instead of on the futon. I think they were confused with the futon for a while.
