Pit Bull Ban (News)
Question: Pit-Bull-Ban INDEX: Politics, Social, Justice TORONTO -- Angry pit pull owners and breeders in Ontario now have renowned defence lawyer Clayton Ruby on their side. He plans to challenge Ontario's new anti-pit bull law, claiming it violates the Charter of Rights and Freedoms because it is too vague and unscientific. Two men from Whitby have also launched a legal action. They argue the Ontario government does not have the authority to ban the breed. Hundreds of opponents of the law held vigils in Toronto, Halifax, Phoenix and Australia last night as it came into effect. As of today, pit bulls already in Ontario can stay as long as they're sterilized and kept muzzled and leashed in public. Owners have until October 28th to comply with the law. Puppies born by November 27th will also be considered restricted but can stay in Ontario. Any pit bull born after that will have to be shipped out of the province, sent to a research facility or destroyed. That made me sad today too. I'm not sure folks in these parts are fully aware of that situation so I made sure it was in several of my newscast today. Answer: I heard that on the news last night too. I hope that this legal action brings something positive. Answer: I really hope they can change that law, it bites. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
