Please Keep Natalie in your thoughts
Question: I've just gotten in from taking Natalie to the emergency in Birmingham. Her bloodwork was all normal, but he suspects antifreeze poisoning. I chose to bring her home and take her in to our own vet in the morning rather than leave her there so far away. She is experiencing back-end weakness and wobbling- which may be drunkenness associated with antifreeze. Shes had no vomiting or diarrhea at this point- and still has an appetite- the only other change is increased thirst. He did not test her for antifreeze- as she was already past the initial time of exposure and said it was more important now to test her for any kidney failure. As I said, all that is normal for now- no toxins, no infections, bloodsugar a bit high but nothing abnormal, and no signs of liver or kidney damage, but still very wobbly. We are to take her in first thing to our vet, have her bloodwork redone, and go from there. So, please think of her- and us. Answer: oh! fingers crossed and incense lit..... Answer: I hope everything works out for her and you. If it is any consolation, my parents cat got out once, and when they found him, he was already sick from antifreeze poisoning, and he pulled through without any long term effects, hopefully it will be the same for Natalie Answer: Give Natallie a hug for me. Hope everything works out. Answer: Hugs to you and Natalie..I sure hope she pulls through. Where do you think she got at the anti-freeze? We had evil neighbors in our subdivision, they actually put out a dish of antifreeze soaked meat on their lot line because they didn't want the neighbor's dogs coming in their yard.! Both animals had to go to the vet and one did survive. The neighbors with the dogs had built their house and even so because of the dogs they moved and built another house in a different neighborhood. The guy who did it is a real jerk (insert other choice words here) and he is even a police officer. Answer: Oh no! I'm keeping all of you in my thoughts. I hope she pulls through this without complications. Answer: I am soo sorry, I am keeping everyone in my thoughts and prayers. Answer: Back from the vet again. Natalie seems to be fine. None of her blood levels went up, urinalysis clear, all the other half dozen blood tests perfectly normal. His best guess- she ate some garbage or roadkill that had fermented. Three more days and no more symptoms he said to consider her in the clear. Thanks for the crossed fingers, etc. It was a pretty scary thing- could have ended up being something quite bad. Answer: Jenna, I am sorry. I hope Natalie is okay. Answer: YEAH !!! I am glad everything turned out ok for natalie. keeping my fingers crossed for the next 3 days.
