flea treatments
Question: My mom just took her puppy into the vets to get his last set of needles, etc,,the vet said he had fleas which mom already knew, ,,the vet gave her advantage,,she asked me if it was any good and I honestly dont know since *knocks on wood* we've never had to deal with fleas yet I told her even if they kill the fleas off of Ace, as far as I know, the house still needs to be treated, she told me that she did the bedding and his bedding but they dont have carpet so they dont need to spray the house,,,but i thought fleas could live in your baseboards,,etc soo my question, is advantage a good flea treatment?? can fleas live in baseboards, etc? Answer: Fleas can be anywhere dust and hair can get caught up, so she should defn. treat the house. Here's advantage's website: http://www.nofleas.com I have never used it and I don't carry it at my clinic so I am not too familar with it, but I believe it to be quite effective. However I think it only kills adult fleas, so her dog should still have a flea bath to help remove any eggs. Answer: I will be sure to tell mom to spray and wash everything in her house,,,,I think next spring I might some advantage for Sasha, just to be on the safe side,,,she LOVES to roll in the dirt and grass so she could easily get them, ,,,ewwww,,I hate fleas Answer: We use Advantage at the shelter. I haven't seen or heard of any problems with it. Seems to be effective. Answer: okay, , i was talking to mom she said she sees a huge improvement with Ace already, she said shes not worried about her furniture because its leather and she hasnt seen any fleas in the house,,,,hopefully they were just on him,, Answer: When we had dogs, we used advantage from the time the vet said ok, and it was great. We never had any problems with it Answer: I really think I might put sasha on it next yr, we shouldnt have fleas anymore since weve had frost for about 2 weeks but next spring we definately will Answer: My dogs have never had fleas.. I use Sentinel (a pill once a month for 6 months).. it's for fleas, intestinal parasites & heartworm prevention. It may be cheaper then paying for heartworm pills as well as flea treatment separately. Answer: hey i dont think Ive ever heard of that....why do they only take it for 6 mths tho? Answer: You don't need it during the cold temps. So I guess if you lived in a place where it's always hot you may need it year round. I give it from June until November.
