This is pretty amazing
Question: What an incredible story! http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/West/07/0....ap/index.html BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- Thomas Gaide thought the caller was barking up the wrong tree. An animal shelter in California couldn't possibly have his dog, Chevy. Chevy was right in front of him, 650 miles away at his Boise home. But when the man insisted and mentioned a computer chip in the dog's neck, Gaide realized that after seven years, Chevy's predecessor had finally been found. The older dog disappeared from Gaide's Hayward, California, backyard in 1996. Calls were made to the pound, hours were spent searching the neighborhood and countless flyers were posted to no avail. It was six years before Gaide could bring himself to buy another black lab, and name it Chevy. Gaide and the younger dog moved to Boise last year. The call about the original Chevy came about three weeks ago, Gaide said, after shelter officials tracked him down through his wife, who still lives in California. Now the older Chevy is living happily with Gaide's other three dogs, including Chevy the younger. "The first day or two he was like, 'What's up with the new guy?' but now he acts like he remembers me, responds to me and the bond is still there," Gaide said. Answer: That's bizarre.... But so cool that they were reunited! Answer: Awww...that's so awesome that they were reunited! Bet he's glad he got his dog chipped! I love happy endings like that! Answer: We've had a similar reunions at our shelter. I can't stress the value of a microchip! Answer: Wow, I'm glad that the dog & the owner were finally reunited!!! It must be weird though to call Chevy & both dogs come running..lol. Answer: How did the dog end up in the shelter? Did someone find him and keep him for a few years before turning him in? I'm glad they were finally reunited! Answer: The story doesn't really explain that part but in the cases I've seen.. the dog or cat (in one case) ended up running away from the 2nd owner (who had probably found the animal and never tried to find the owner or even checked to see if it had a microchip)... Answer: Well, I guess we also have to rely on the kindness of strangers to get lost pets back as well. If they don't think to get the microchip scanned, they'll never find the original owner anyway. Still a good idea to have a microchip though. Answer: What a wonderful story Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
