Poor Molly

Question:
Molly has an ear infection. To backtrack, when her foster mum rescued her from the vet's office, she noticed Molly continuosly shook her head and scratched her ears. She took Molly to her vet and the vet diagnosed her with an ear infection. She said the ear canal was so swollen, she couldn't even get an ear scope in her ear. So, the vet prescribed ear drops. Molly's foster mum and I took her back to the vet for a follow-up on Saturday and the vet that examined her said her ears were fine and to flush her ears out every other day and continue the ear drops. Well, since Sunday, Molly has been scratching her left ear. Dave and I took her to our vet and the vet said her ear canal is seriously swollen and she still has an ear infection! I am furious because the vet that saw Molly on Saturday didn't say a freaking thing about her ear canal being swollen! The vet has her on: antibiotics, steroids (to reduce swelling) and a different kind of ear drop. He said there is a possibility that her ear drums are ruptured but he won't be able to tell until the swelling is gone. Poor girl! The vet said she is a real trooper because she should have been crying in pain.
I don't like the vet's office her foster mum took her to. I heard negative things about them and the vet that saw Molly on Saturday also told me to put her on Nutro because she has sensitive skin. She never heard of Nature's Variety and told me if Nature's Variety doesn't agree with her, to put her on a prescription diet. Um, I don't think so. Since we have had Molly, her coat and skin have changed dramatically! I told Molly's foster mum, I do not plan on going back to the same vet's office and will be going to our own vet.

Answer:
Poor Molly is right!! Denise, definitely go with your instincts when it comes to the vet. Your own vet sounds like he knows what he's doing. Is there any way to do a culture? That might help with the antibiotic selection. I hope that she is feeling better soon.
