Natalie has bronchitis

Question:
Or at least what the vet said it was. Said it's going around- 4 of his dogs had it. I suppose that is what Pagan had- and she brought it to us- even though Patsy keeps insisting that her vet said it was an allergy. I thought Nattie was just trying to throw up- she ate a motherload of catfood yesterday when I was out and someone ELSE was supposed to be keeping an eye on the dogs and wasn't. She threw up once last night- then woke me up about 2am sounding like she was hoinking again. I went through the getting her some grass, tricking her into eating it, etc- but she was still going hoink hoink this morning. Later, she was napping on the sofa next to me, and I laid my hand on her side and could feel her rattling in her chest. I had to call my dad to come take us to the vet and he's scared of Natalie, so was pretty interesting- as Nattie thinks everyone loves her and likes to get in faces so you can prove it to her. I made her sit in the floorboard of his truck on the way, cause he kept wincing anytime she'd get her nose near him. And at the vet's, Nattie had to meet everyone, nosed this huge obese orange cat out of receptionist's window onto her desk just cause she thought the kitty would like that, I suppose. Then she wouldn't lay still on the exam table and was whining and I told her to lay down and she amazingly obeyed and was good the rest of the time and even gave the vet a kiss. And then she was so happy to get to leave, she jumped right up in Daddy's truck and sat down right next to him like she was helping him drive- kept biting the air coming out of the vents and dripping drool all over the place. I don't think my daddy knew what to think since he only has little weinerdogs. He did say that Nattie was 'kind of a pretty dog' which is huge praise coming from him. Anyway, Nattie got a shot to bring her fever down and is on tetracyclene and prednisone to stop the cough, but we have to give her an expectorant since she won't be coughing. She acts fine except the coughing, but is sleeping heavily and you can tell by her eyes she doesn't feel good. I am just trying to keep her drinking and let him know if she doesn't feel like eating by the next day or so. AND if any of the other dogs gets it, just to call in for meds- and it shouldn't be contageous to the cats or anyone else.

Answer:
Poor Nattie! I hope she feels better soon.

Answer:
Poor Natalie, I hope the meds help really soon for her! That was very kind of your Dad, maybe he will start to warm up to her after this trek
Our vet has an obese orange cat (actually I think she is part calico, but has lots of orange) that sits in the window also!

Answer:
I hope Natalie is feeling better soon, poor baby. I agree - your Dad is extremely special to be there for you, despite being afraid of Nattie.

Answer:
Sending Natalie get well wishes.

Answer:
Sending Nattie a bunch of good health vibes from me and the chinnies

Answer:
I will pass the well wishes on to Natalie. It is hell getting her to take robitussin, I tell you- doesn't help that I only have 1cc syringes and the dosage is 4. The pills she took just fine after I fed cheese to sirius and pagan first. She is eating, but not enthusastically. She's turned into baby mode already, though- wants to be in your lap- and I suppose we will both take advantage of Steve feeling sorry for her and let her sleep on the bed. He had a dog die of distemper when he was a kid, and I couldn't convince him that Natalie couldn't have distemper.

Yeah- dad and I have never been on very good terms, but I know I can count on him in a crunch. He's softened toward animals a lot since I was a kid- which has helped. As for Natalie- she just freaks people out because she is too big and too friendly- and people are naturally afraid of big black dogs anyway.

Answer:
I hope Nat gets well soon!!!!
