Does this answer your question - do dog's get bug bites?? This is Copper a few weeks ago after being outside in the evening - poor guy!! :(

Do you think that mosquito bite are as itchy on a dog as they are on our legs?? I sure hope not, for his sake!

He doesn't scratch at them so I don't know, Sammiec. The only time he flinches is when they are on him biting! The bugs just love him! Zoe doesn't get bit near as much! Last summer(or the summer before, can't remember) I gave him oatmeal baths to help soothe him just in case he felt uncomfortable! He also gets benedryl.

The way I look at it, if it bites us it bites them. Tucker uses kids Off when we go to the cottage, he got a deer fly bite by his eye this weekend and it was all swollen.

I've read conflicting reports on garlic for dogs so now I'm not sure what to do! I was going to try garlic but now I'm unsure.

I have been using bug spray, but I can't use it everyday!

Diego's bites seem smaller, not really big bumps like Copper's, but a lot more, almost like a rash. The bites are mostly found in areas where the hair is thin, so underbelly, crotch, armpits.

We took him to the vet, she also think it's some kind of bug bites, maybe red ants, but since Diego's on Revolution, she ruled out fleas and ticks. She prescribed some kind of antihistamine steroid (venadyl??) to help with the itching. Oh my poor baby was scratching like crazy last night, I couldn't even sleep hearing all that scratching. :(

Oh she also mentioned that it would be OK to give Diego adult regular strength Benedryl, 25mg for every 50lb approx., 3 times daily until the itching goes away.
