Ok we got a kitten the other day. And its really different to other cats we have had. THIS ONE WONT LEAVE ME ALONE. out of everyone in the family its only affectionate with me. it keeps on messageing me or kneedling me whatever its called. wont leave me alone. also keeps on forcing its head into my hands LOVES MY HANDS for some reason.

its cute but i want some alone time. it doesnt do it to my dad or my mum no one.

what should i do. will it get over it ?

Answer:
How old is your kitten? Perhaps it was taken from its mummy too soon, and its using you as a 'sudo-mom' (a replacement mom) . . .

. . . be thankful your kitten is so loving with you, and not biting! hahah!

Answer:
the kitten is about 8 weeks old but its a feral kitten. it was left alone by its mum. i think i am the adopted mum, but how long will it last.

Answer:
What are you feeding the little mite? Perhaps it has a fixation on your hands (fingers) because they look like nipples?? hahahah. The little guy might not be fully weaned yet. . . .

Have you taken him to a vet yet? He may be younger than you think he is. . . .

perhaps you should PM LuckyRescue, she has had more dealings with Feral cats that alot of people on the board . . .she is a great resource of info!

Answer:
Have you tried tiring the kitten out with play? Maybe then you will be able to steal some alone time?

Some kittens are just naturally more needy. I raised two foster kitties and the boy was always meowing and very needy when he was a baby but he grew out of it and I believe is now the better socially adjusted of the two. (They are now JDG's Marty and Minou so correct me if I'm wrong JDG!) I'm guessing your kitty just needs some special loving. I can say that my foster kitten's Momma always paid more attention to Marty (the needy one) but I don't think he turned out overly needy so I wouldn't worry about paying too much attention to him and making him even more needy (in case you were thinking of trying to old "ignore the crying baby and it will stop crying" theory). I would just give it love and it will grow out of it. Kittens grow up very fast!

JDG- if I'm wrong about how Marty turned out please correct me! Is he still really needy?

Answer:
Kayla - nope, thats pretty much right.. . .

I wouldn't call Marty needy now - he just like to be in the thick of it, if you know what I mean. He always comes to check out whos at the door, and always checks out company, he likes to bat at stuff on the tv. . . perhaps more curious discribes him better now. . . where as Minou watches diligently from a short distance all the goings on. . .

Kayla did an AWESOME job with the kittens! They are both FAB little characters, but they did stay with mom until they were just over 8 weeks old and were fully weaned. . . .

Answer:
The kitten will grow up fine if you give him lots of love and care. I would caution you to not play with your hands with the kitten tho, however tempting it might be. He then will think it's fine to bite and that is a behaviour you do not want to reward. Try to find alternate things for him to play with - even if it s feather attached to your hand, as long as it is not your hand the kitten plays with.

Answer:
I definately agree with the others.....

And I also would suggest a visit to the vets.Just to get him/her checked.

Is it a him or a her? What the name?Any pics?.....

Any thoughts on getting him a playmate?.......
