We recentrly lost our beloved siamese cat, which had the most gentle temperament and liked my two shih'tzus very much, now my husband is very sad and I would like to give him a kitten, but would like to know which breed goes well with dogs.

Any kitten you get, if it's young enough, should be fine with your dogs in about 1/2 hour.

I would suggest a laid back young male kitten who is outgoing and not shy. The shelters and rescues are packed with them, so finding one will be very easy.

I have a Birman cat, he is super friendly with dogs!
He particularly likes little dogs, but bigger dogs are just more challenge I guess. They are so soft and nice cats with small voices. Very calm, very affectionate, and very playful.
I would highly recommend a Birman.
Check around the SPCA's too, thats where our little purebred boy came from!

I agree with LR. No specific breed of cat is more friendly than another tho some can be more friendly to humans - I was tempted to say Siamese or Sphynx but I know any kitten raised in the right atmosphere will be friendly with a dog.
