Boxers with skin tags.

Question:
I have 2 boxers and both have started what appear to be skin tags. They are mostly on their legs and one is on the side of the neck. They look like ticks. In fact, we've tried pulling one off when it first appeared and Max looked @ me like I was crazy. Otherwise, they don't seem to bother him or Jake. Any ideas? Does this sound like a skin tag? Should they be removed and tested? The vet told us it would be around $200.

Thanks so much!

Answer:
Hi there. Boxers are prone to lumps and bumps and skin tags. They should ALWAYS be checked by a vet to make sure they are not cancerous. If your vet thinks that they are not dangerous, then there is no harm to leave them on (just keep an eye on them and make sure they are not fast growing or changing color). If your vet thinks they should be removed and a biopsy done, then that is your answer!

Answer:
My dog, Copper -Pit bull - has one on his back leg. I too thought it was a tick. My vet told me that he may rub up against something one day and it will fall off - not to worry. He's had it for a few months now and there has been no change in it at all. It's so small, I have a hard time finding it!!!
