Question:
So I took Cider finally to the groomer today.. A nice lady from church. She's done Cider once before, and my Mom won grooming again in a silent auction. Cider's armpit matts were so bad that she accidentally cut Cider when trying to get them out. They were still matted enough I couldn't see how badly she was cut.

The groomer insisted I go to the vet even though the bleeding stopped, and she wasn't acting funny. She didn't even yelp when she got cut.. so I assumed it was nothing.

The vet cut the matt out.. and it turns out she's got a 2 cm flap of skin free.. Like the whole thick skin layer is hanging on weirdly. The vet was touching it and explaining it to me as I'm trying to hold my baby and not flip..

So I have to take her tomorrow to be sedated and have it cut off, and the edges stitched back together.... Except it's right on her elbow.. and even over stitching it it may come apart.

My groomer feels awful, and is super upset. I'm alright, and Cider seems okay.. She wants to pay for any care I need at least. I just think it's ridiculous that spaying her was like a third of what this is going ot come to with 2 vet visits and surgery and antibiotics and and..

Roar.. it's my day off.. I was hoping for calmness.

I have never heard about that before! The cost of the surgery does sound hefty!

It is really nice that your groomer is willing to pay and was so concerned!

I can't believe Cider never made a sound. Well I hope everything will be Ok, and I hope Cider won't hold a grudge

She's a drama queen. Try to clip her nails.. She screams loudly the entire time.. though in a year and a half I've hit the quick once.. Trimming the fur under her feet last winter I accidentally cut her pad.. no sound.. Get's bitten in the face by a JRT.. no sound..

She's super silly..

Cider wasn't holding a grudge when we left.. Though I laughed at her uneven coat in the car.. they were like 3/4 done..

But yeah.. like 86 today for antibiotics, wrapping it, cleaning it, looking at it.. plus like 580 for tomorrow.. I'd figure a spay was more intense than a flap of skin..

Though the vet tried to find cheaper solutions.. Like local anesthetic, and stapling it shut.. There's no guarantee it would hold, and then we'd still be doing this.

I feel terrible for the groomer though. She was so so so upset. I don't think she's ever nicked a dog until now.. I called her from the vet to ask what she wanted me to do. She's so upset, and so thankful I'm understanding.. But what's the point of flipping. Cider is okay.. and isn't acting funny or anything. I feel bad for her being so upset about it. I mean yeah it sucks.. but it'll be okay.
