My BEagle
Question: i have a 10 month old beagle he was house trained now all of a sudden he is going in the house again and also he is chewing on everything in sight what can i do??????????????????? Answer: at this age, he is marking. Is he neutered ?. Keep him on leash, correct him when your seem him about to try. As for chewing. Confine him. if you do not, you can have a dead dog on your hands. Either a crate or cinfine him to a room. Puppy proof it first. Better a crate though Answer: You may have provided him with too much freedom too soon. As stated by Rottielover, he may be marking and if that is the case, neutering will help if he isn't already. If he is, you will have to go back a step and housetrain again. As for the chewing, my beagle was an expert in this area! I had to watch her all the time. She never had a moment alone where someone wasn't watching her. When she couldn't be supervised, she was put in her crate. Your whole house or apartment should be puppy proofed. This means everything that is within his reach should be put away until his chewing phase is over. This may take a while. This may sound weird, but if you get down on your hands and knees you will be at his eye level and everything that you can reach so can he. If it is interesting enough, he will chew/destroy it. Putting it away for the time being will help you while you train him. Keeping him busy with some toys is also a good idea. Rotate his toys every few days or so so that he doesn't get bored with the same one. Also, make them challenging. If he is chewing out of boredom or pent up energy, a good play session will tire him out and he will nap for quite a while. This worked for my very energetic beagle! Answer: thanks and yes he is neutered and the weirsd thing is he is only going number 2 and even weirder is he is doing it right in front of the toilet most of the time Answer: In front of the toilet? Maybe he thinks (not to be gross) that because he sees his humans doing it there, it's alright for him too??? Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
