Another Nail issue

Question:
I saw the other thread about nail cutting and didn't want to hijack.

We have had Odin a year now and no matter what we try, we cannot cut or grind his nails. He bites us (not hard, just clamps down lightly on us in protest, doesn't leave a mark)

Treats don't work because he gets so excited that he won't sit still enough to let us cut or grind them.

As soon as we get close to or touch a nail, he will try and bite our hands/arms. We tried letting him chew on one of us, and the other cuts, but it didn't work.

Muzzles don't work...well...because we can't find a muzzle that would fit him! The one time we took him to the vet for cutting it took 2 muzzles tied together in a funny way, and 4 people to hold him and one to cut the nails, and we didn't even get his dew claws!

We had a bulldog breeder grind them using a dremel for us once, and it took us three people to hold him.

We have slowly tried getting him used to grinding with my dremel since October, but he only lets us do his back paws, and most times only one nail for 1/2 a second, which does barely anything!

His nails are starting to get too long. I don't know what to do.

I think he must of had some REALLY bad nail experiences before we got him because he flinches BAD when I try and stroke his feet/paws at all, which we have done daily for a year and he still hasn't got used to it (nor do I think he will ever). If he is napping on my lap and I pat him and his legs, he will flinch each time I stroke his paw. It's sad....

We tried super tiring him out so he won't protest, but he just got super anxious and zoomy.

He will lie on his back redily for belly rubs, but as soon as we try and hold his feet, he freaks out and gets up.

Answer:
Bulldogs are hard. At the vet clinic I worked at, it took 6 of us to hold one for a blood test once. Pretty nuts. They're so strong.

What if when he goes to bite you, you stick a toy in his mouth? Or what if the second person just holds his head? What about doing them when he's standing and the second person holds his head? I don't know what will work with Odin... I think at this point, since you tried desensitizing, the rest is trial and error...

Answer:
if we try and stick a toy in his mouth, he just pushes it out of the way.

He is too strong to just hold the head. If we do he freaks out and squirms so it's impossible to use cutters or grind his nails.

When the breeder did his nails we held him up in the air, belly out (sorta like holding him under his front legs) and that made it easier, but we need several people to do it that way.
