cat chewing cardboard?????

Question:
I know I have been on here a lot posting concerns about little things my cats do, I just want to make sure that they are acting normal and that I am raising "well adjusted" little boys . That being said, one of the brothers that I adopted has just recently starting chewing paper grocery sacks, cardboard, evelopes that still have mail in them, and any other thick paper product. If it is a piece of plain paper, he won't touch it, but he goes out of his way to chew on all the other stuff. He never eats it, just chews holes in it, I go to look at my mail and there are teeth marks all over the envelopes and when I get home from grocery shopping and I set the bags on the floor by the time I get back in with the second trip one of the bags looks like a vampire just got done sucking the life out of it! He is the one that was just put on antibiotics a week ago for pnemonia and the chewing started at about the same time. He is getting better, thankfully. Any guesses ? Is he teething? They are 7 months old. His brother has no interest it chewing whatsoever...it may just be that I have a little terror on my hands. It really doesn't bother me that much I just wanted some input on to maybe why he is doing it.

Answer:
I think boredom, my cat is 1 1/2 yrs old, he likes chewing wood, paper, dog treats. Everything, you would have thought I brought a puppy to the house. LOL

Answer:
I have 5 cats and they all LOVE paper, boxes cardboard!
My one cat can actually reduce a box to bite size confetti in no time!!

Don't worry your cat's are perfectly normal!!

Answer:
Yah, Lucas ate the month of June off my calendar last year, I missed everything that month! If I don't want it chewed on I have to put it away immediately. He seems to do it when he wants to be fed, as soon as someone gets up he runs to his food dish. He has the hubby all trained to feed him on demand at 5:00 in the morning.LOL!
