Question:
Brick ate a stick of butter last week, then proceeded to vomit in my computer room. It smells exactly like human puke & I cannot get rid of the smell in the air & in the carpet. I've tried vinegar & water solution, salt, baking soda, febreeze & our bissell carpet cleaner with special pet stuff in it. None of that worked so I trudged out to the pet store to buy Nature's Miracle, cuz everyone raves about it..... Bought the big 1 litre bottle, doused the carpet with half of it & let it dry....not much of a change. About a week later, did it again with the other half of the bottle, and it is a bit better, but not 100% stink free! I still have to sit here at the computer with a candle burning or my shirt up around my nose!! It is horrible!!!! Today when we left, hubby closed the office door & when I came in here, it almost knocked me on my ass!!! BARF!!!

Any other suggestions??? We cannot afford new carpet so don't suggest that please, it's not an option right now (as much as I'd love to)!!! Thanks!

I would pull up the carpet and treat the underpad or replace it. It's probably the underpad that's harbouring the smell.

I'm a human puke-ophobic to the point where I was considering giving Boo up for adoption because he ate a bulk box of oreos... Luckily my boyfriend stepped in and saved the day.

I think you're going to need something more serious than febreeze... Maybe bleach?

my mom's dog did the EXACT same thing - ate a stick of butter off the counter, and barfed.... oh my - the smell is horrendous!

she went out and bought a Bissell Steam Cleaner. totally worth the money! It completely cleaned the area, and NO SMELL AT ALL remained. worked like a charm!

if you can't afford to buy the steamer, you could always rent one for a day.

We have a bissell steam cleaner!!! LOL I did one more treatment of Natures' Miracle, then Febreeze & it seems to be ok (unless I'm just used to the horrid smell!!) If not I will pull up the carpet & treat the underpad (I just hoped for an easier, less tiring answer!!!)
