Answer:
pretty incredible what some dogs can be trained to do! are those Berger Malinois?

Answer:
Wow! Isn't the most important command for these dogs "let go"? They seem a little scary to me as they have to be dragged off the bad guy.... Didn't one of them get the handler too?

Increadible what they can do though, but scary if in the wrong hands.

Answer:
Interesting, but did you see the one dog turn on its handler and in the end they muzzled the dog. I have never seen them muzzle police dogs here, and the police incourage the children to stroke them. I don't think I would want my child stroking them. It is amazing the way they take those people down, man they can jump.

Perhaps the euro training is more aggressive? Any trainers here that can chime in?

Short Description:

Police dog training is like that of many other forms of defensive drive training like Shutzhund training in that you are developing the defensive drive in the dog. Defensive drive is both genetic and learned. Once a K9 has passed the tests for genetics in either a high defensive drive or not it is then moved onto training. Once these dogs start learning this skill they are taught much the same as a blind leader dog would be in that "when they are working, they are only working". It is a job to them and they perform it well. To someone who does not have a background in this it is easy to assume that the dog is crazy, out of control or it may even be hard to understand why the dog would have to be muzzled. Once the K9 has locked onto the target and is performing it's job (in this case attacking) they become very intense and focus on the job needed to be done. Although the handler is there commanding the dog, a properly trained K9 in this situation should instantly react to the handler's commands. In my opinion these dogs did their jobs well and the handler did an even better job at being safe afterwards by muzzling the dog to psychologically and physically control the situation after the K9 had completed his job.

MOST IMPORTANTLY-The dogs that are trained for this are not dangerous to children or anyone else UNLESS the handler specifies otherwise. They will not bite if they are not working and are not commanded to. They are nothing to fear but rather a more dedicated dog looking to please it's handler.
