Help, I'm about ready to have this cat put down

Question:
It's a 8 year old male Maine Coon cat & it is huge, about 28-30 ibs. We are in a townhouse & can no longer let the cat out or we will be fined. Since we have had to keep him inside, he has started peeing in the house. He won't use his litter box most of the time (he poos there OK). This cat pees like a racehorse. It is ruining carpets. He actually did it right in front of me today & I grabbed him & stuck his nose in there (not a safe thing to do, believe me). I don't really want to put him down, but there seems to be little other option. We no longer want to live in a litter box. This cat is fine if it can go outdoors. Does anyone in the Vancouver area want to give him a home where he can freely go out? He is not a 24 hour outdoor cat.

Answer:
Are you serious? Why would this cat be better off dead than in a new home where people actually care about it?
Have you even tried to contact any rescues in your area??

Answer:
I just can't believe some people! Cat can't go outside so we should kill him! Yeah that's very humane. I'm sure if your kid poops in his bed you stick his nose in the pile of poop too right?(of course it's much safer since a baby has no teeth!)

I'll just shut up before I open my mouth and type things that I shouldn't.

You dont' know much about cats, do you? He is stressed or in pain (both major causes of inappropriate urination) so you abuse him? Very helpful and compassionate of you.

Have you thought about taking him to the vet for a checkup? A huge, mature neutered cat could very easily have crystals in his bladder that are painful. You may not have noticed this since he was going outside.

Before killing him, please at least have him checked out.
