Litter Training?
Question: Hi All, I'm a new member and joined to try to get some help, so here it goes. We want to try to litter train our ****z-Tzu cross Cookie. She is 10.5 weeks old and was doing very well with the puppy pads, but now seems to think carpets are a better option. As of yesterday we got rid of as many carpets as we can and we would like to avoid crate training if possible. I have tried introducing her to the litter box and she is needles to say disinterested at best. When I put her in it w/ or w/out a puppy pad on top she jumps out right away. And when I try to let her just sniff it to get used to it, she grabs a couple of the larger pebbles and then takes them away to try to chew them. I know she is at the stage where she tries to eat everything, but eating litter is not an option. Do you "experts" or experienced owners have any suggestions on how we can get her to go in the litter box - without trying to eat the litter? We will do crate training if we have to, but only as a last resort. Thanks in advance!! Answer: What type of litter is she trying to eat? I had a dog that was litter box trained, Used puppy pads in a box rather than litter. Turned into too much of a hassle, and Family members were highly unimpessed even though the box was kept clean all the time. You train the same way you'd train a dog to go outside, Circling or squating on the floor, take the dog to the box. If you aren't crate training, how much run of the house does the dog have when you aren't home? Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
