good store to buy dog crate?
Question: im in the market for a x-large dog crate. i have a lab/gsd mix. what would be the cheapest store to get one? canadiantire has one for $110. im in london ont if anyone has any suggestions. Answer: I know that jbpet.com doesn't charge shipping on crates, so that might be a good option. Answer: Why buy new? Check the classified ads in newspaper and on line and look at bulletin boards in your pet shop. Get a used one, clean it with a 1part bleach 10part water solution, rinse and there you go. Cheaper, and recycled. OH and you can also put an add on freecycle for anyone who may have one they don't want anymore... www.freecycle.org Answer: thanks for the tip, i just signed up with freecycle. ~Amy Answer: Also try the TSC store, that is were I buy my crates they have several sizes the size I buy for greyhounds are 30 wide X 36 high X 48 long heavy gauge fold down, and I think I paid $95 for that size 2 years ago,You probably would need the 42" long one you may want to go by actual dimensions, since what one store calls XL may be different then what the next store calls XL I like the quality of these crates I don't know who makes them but in my opinion far better made than the Midwest crates that most other stores sell, they are made of heavy gauge and there is no folded in wires or bits for a dog to get hooked up on. The Midwest lifestages and starter crates, I would not recommend for larger breeds, the wire gauge is too light, I have read about dog that managed to pull and break the wires and ended up puncturing themselves on the wires, while trying to escape the crate, the pin drop crates I hate the way they designed it, they have wires that bend inward just above the floor pan, which connects the bottom of the crate to the sides, if a dog was wearing a collar and laying down it would be easy for their collar to get hooked up and cause the dog to become strangled, I have not looked at the crates Canadian Tire sells so I can't comment You can phone first to see what the prices are for the various sizes and take a look at them , you will probably be surpised at the difference. there is one on Wonderland near Wharnecliffe ph 652-6492 and another on 1960 Dundas st between Clarke Side Rd and Wavell ph 455-7790 Answer: i called the one tsc store. they have a xlarge (48 x 35 x 30) crate for $121, and another one for (36 x 20 x 21 - way too small for buddy) for $70. so they're prices are about the same as canadian tire. there's also this ebay one: http://cgi.ebay.ca/NEW-48-Two-Door-F... cmdZViewItem so it's $50 for the crate plus tax = $57 + shipping 33 = $90. maybe i'll go with that if no one gets back to me on freecycle. does it look pretty sturdy? the seller has some good feedback. my dog buddy is elderly so he doesnt need something super-duper tough, but i do want something of decent quality. ~Amy Answer: Looks like a decent crate to. but just imho. I checked it out and I think I am going to buy the smallest one for my pup. She only has a little growing room in the one she has now and I will need to replace it soon. So thank you for the link! Answer: Check out the Pet Supply company online store. They have all sorts of crates and deliver right to your door. Excellent service too by the way. Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
