Adoptable yet or not??

Question:
Hi - I am an experienced cat owner, but we found a little kitten freezing on our step on boxing day. We weren't able to catch her until we borrowed a trap from a rescue friend.

She is about 6-8 m old, and was absolutely skinny and exhausted and depressed when we brought her in. I carried her in a snuggly for weeks.

She has come around nicely, but my one concern is that she has bonded to me and only me. She runs from everyone else. Even myself I have to approach her slowly and talking to her, so she doesn't get frightened. She has also fallen in love with one of my 5 cats who has taken her under his paw, and cleans her and plays with her.

My question is - will she be able to bond with a new family, or will it just take more time before she's ready to be adopted????? Not sure about timing on this.

Thanks.

Answer:
Since she has bonded with you,she might not be feral..but I don't know, hopefully Lucky will answer you,she has more experience with this sort of situation.
I personally think she will be difficult to adopt out,is there no way you can keep her??? 6 cats is better than 5,nice even number

Answer:
yah yah nice even number !!! I rescued a feral one time - it was apparent he'd never been touched by a human before. It took about six months to gain his trust - we still have him, and he's the sweetest most loving kitty!

I don't think Noelle was entirely feral, but I believe she was out there for a long while on her own. :(

As far as keeping her - well my hubby thinks 5 is too many...and I'm trying to be a good girl and not keep ALL my foster babies

Answer:
With feral or semi-feral cats, it's usually best if they stay with the person who tamed them,(if possible) since they develop an incredible bond of trust with that person.

This cat can be rehomed, but she WILL regress in the new home, and the owners must be very patient and understanding and willing to let her come around in her own time. These homes are not easy to find, as I well know (I have 3 feral cats myself) :(

Some feral cats can come to be reasonably friendly to strangers, others never will. These cats also usually NEED other cats around, and I would never rehome one as an only pet.

Thanks for saving this baby!!

Answer:
Yes and that's my other concern is finding her a home that WOULD understand her well enough...

It's almost like they are just so thankful that you saved them isn't it??

Answer:
Meowzart,I forgot to mention...a great big thank you for saving this little girl
