I must say that referring to your situation as "am I stuck with a brain-damaged dog" does not give me the warm fuzzies about how you care for your pet. No one is stuck with an animal, there are many alternatives.

Answer:
I was thinking the same thing BMDluver.
Are you a first time pet owner ??

Answer:
This is a very normal thing for puppies to do.

Anyone getting an animal should find out something about it first, then they would know that puppy behaviors do not mean the animal is "brain damaged".

Answer:
Get some "Forbid" at the vet or pet store. It will make poo taste bad to your dog. Dogs/puppies often eat poo...it is disgusting, but normal.

Well, I hope not because you know they say dogs always seem to resemble their owners.....

Careful if you get the urge to chow down. LOL

Just kidding! Hi and Welcome!
Do you have a puppy? It is usually par for the course, and they usually outgrow it. Do you have any pics of your baby?

Answer:
I have to watch Sophie like a hawk. She is 4 and she still goes for turd snacks. Today she picked up a frozen turdsicle and I made her spit it out. ( Then she gave dad a big wet kiss.) Made me laugh all afternoon. That's what daddy gets for not doing poop patrol.

Answer:
Forbid is usually a good way to stop the poo-eating. You could also try meat tenderizer (Adolph's meat tenderizer) -- both of these make the poo taste bad, well actually taste WORSE! I guess there's no accounting for taste!

You could also try booby-trapping the poo. When your dog isn't looking put a little bit of tabasco sauce or spray some bitter-apple (product available a pet-stores) on it. Once your dog gets one little taste, he won't go back for more!!

Answer:
Some dogs seem to enjoy playing with frozen poo(a fun ,but disgusting winter activity?)and don't do it once the weather gets warmer.Maybe try keeping a closer eye on your puppy and clean up faster.
