fruits and veggies

Question:
Are fruits and vegatables good for a dog? Harley absolutly loves vegatables and some fruits, apples mostly. Are these just as good for a dog as they are for humans, vitamin wise?

Answer:
grapes and raisins are poisonous to dogs can cause kidney failure, seeds from apples and pits from other fruits should not be given. Mushrooms can affect multiple systems, onions destroy red blood cellsand I believe advacato or articoke (spelling?) are poisonous. other veg can give dogs gas also tomato and the plants are bad it can cause tremors and heart arrhythmias.

Answer:
My dogs have always been given grapes as treats.BUT,they are/were given the seedless ones only. It's the seeds in the grapes that are toxic.I had already talked to my vet about this with my first GSD.He lived to be 13 with no health issues to this.Tron will be 9 and no problems at all.Same with Yukon.Raw carrots are great,so is cauliflower and broccolli.

Answer:
i've always wondered what veggies to give duffy, especially since he's four months and teething and the crunchy/cold feels good on his little teeth. our vet suggested carrots but he always throws up (more like spits up, it's looks like yellowish spit...sorry to gross you all out) a little the day after eating carrots. i'd like to give him an alternative but i'm not sure what.

Answer:
lucy, what you can do for the teething is roll up a washcloth, wet it,and put it in the freezer. Then once it's frozen, let duffy go to town...

Also, you can sprinkle some garlic powder on it before you freeze it.Hope this helped.
