Question:
Hii

My Lhasa apso mix is 1 yr old very smart female fixed she loves to play and go for walks we have her now for a full month but i have noticed that she gets very over heated and pants alot after a walk or playing but she will not stop playing she sleeps alot also.. She eats well and drinks alot of water.. As if she over heated is this normal for this type of dog.. her hair is short..Thanks

Answer:
Is the hair dense? Are the ears and feet hot when she overheats? My little girl overheats in the summer (she has very dense black fur) so I just keep her completely wet most of the time.

Answer:
The unnaturally short face and upturned nose means breathing difficulties and the potential for heatstroke in hot humid weather. Their compromised respiratory system makes it risky to anesthetize them. Hope this helps.

Answer:
So there is nothing that can be done she loves to play so much and be close to us this over heating is scaring me she either plays or wants to be close for atention or sleeps.. This is our first Lhasa.. is this normal for them to do this.. or is it a sign of something serious.. she was to please us so much it hurts.. She is bringing up bile now this happened twice last week.. an this morning brought up her whole breakfast i feed her kiddles dry thats what the other couple were feeding her i truly hope they did not lie to me and she not seriously sick.. Love the little thing..

Answer:
If your dog is vomiting, bring it to the vet. It's possible the panting may be a symptom of something, and not just overheating like you assumed. Dogs show things differently than people do, so panting may be a sign of shortness of breath, or overheating. Combined with vomiting, it's a problem a vet must look at.
