I was just reading another post on someone getting their cats declawed and I was curious on how they do it, my cat Yoshi ( the stray I took in) has been declawed, by whoever abandoned her . Just wondering what she had to go through, my other cat Pepper still has her claws and I woudnt think of having them removed.

OMG!!!Why would anyone do such a thing to they're baby? Even though Pepper had ruined a couple peices of furniture, I still wouldnt let that happen!!! Ive tried scratching posts and she doesnt like them.

It's unusual for a cat not to like a scratch post. Is the post rock-solid? Cats will not scratch anything that wobbles.

Try putting some catnip on it, and a toy that dangles near the top.

I just recently brought a small birch log, wrapped some sisal around it and secured it to my inside steps. The cats adore it and scratch it like mad.

I bought a good one made of wood and carpeting, I tried cat nip, she loves that part she just rolls in it(cute to watch) and I tried spraying it with catnip spray. I than tried a different one with some kind of rope stuff tied around it and she still prefers the side of the couch, Yoshie on the other hand with no claws , will go and scratch on both of them, her little clawless paws just slide down the post, so I guess leather furniture is out of the question for us.
