Cat Scratched dog in eye HELP!

Question:
Today my dog decided to go after my cat out of pure fun, she retaliated by doing what cats do best, scratching him, problem is she got him right in the eye =*( There was no blood and there is only a small mark, which I do not think is very deep or on the pupil part but it is also hard to tell since it is watering and he is keeping it closed. He is acting totally normal, but I am sure he hurts a lot, I even sat with him and put a warm cloth on it. Should I be rushing him to the after hours vet or just keep a eye on it? ANY suggestions would mean a lot.

Thank you!

Answer:
I personally would opt for the safe side. I had a cat that got a scratch in his eye from a fight once and it got infected, so it might be best to treat it right away if your dog looks like he's in pain. You could always phone your vet and ask them what to do.

Answer:
I would take your dog to the vet. Scar tissue, even from the smallest scratch, can build up and cause blindness if not treated.

Answer:
Eye sractches can affect the cornea, the iris and many parts of the eye that are unoticeable upon cursory examinations. To be safe, you should visit the vet!

Answer:
I would have to say vet check as well. I would never be to careful when it comes to their eyes. It would not take alot for them to lose their sight if not treated so better safe than sorry. Let us know what the vet say please.

Answer:
Take the poor dog to the vet. Please keep us posted.

Answer:
Having had a scratched cornea myself, it hurts. The vet will probably give you some ointment that will prevent infection and lubricate the surface so that blinking, etc does not irritate the scratch and hurt even more.

Answer:
Please take pup to the vet.

Answer:
I would take him to the vet. I had a cat once that got scratched in the eye in a fight and we had to have the eye removed, was not plesant for him. We also had to do hot compresses and put an ointment in the eye socket for a week before they sewed it shut. He didn't look quite as pretty after that but I still loved him RIP. Hope your puppy is ok. Let us know how everything goes.

Answer:
I am soo sorry this took me so long to update you all, but I finally had some time with the kids and the husband out of the house . Prints is doing fine, the vet looked at him and gave me some drops for his eye, she said the scratch was very small, that he got lucky but she wanted to be safe and gave me some drops, they were a weeks worth and they are done now. Thank for the advise all I really appreciate it.

Answer:
So glad your boy is ok! That is great news!
