my vet has suggested revolution to prevent fleas, but before i use that Id like to know if there are any natural ways to prevent fleas that are safe for my dog and cats?

I have not had to use any flea prevention, even though the dogs are out every day and we go camping every other weekend, I have not seen a flea on them in over three years now. I did find this page with some home remidies for flea prevention.

My neighbor uses yeast pills to prevent fleas in her dog. She give the dog a cavalier king charles spaniel a half a tablet everyday. She says it's working great. But I just thought of something, can that cause a dog to get more yeast infections in their ears?
