Question: Hey everyone... Well I have a new hedgehog (Blizzard...) he's an albino hedggi... so he's white ANYWAYS!! I just was wondering if its just me, or is he more grumpy during the day 'cause I'm waking him up? And more nice at night cause he wants to play?? thnx Answer: my bro had one, that was more grumpy in the day as well. They don't ;ike to be woken. You're aware of the gentic disorders they can have, yes? Answer: not too much, I mean I heard of some... but... Answer: Hedgehogs have a lot of requirements that you must meet if you want to keep one in your home. Here's a good site for info: http://www.pogstarhedgehogs.com/basiccare.html Answer: I thought that hedgehogs were nocturnal? That's probably why he is grumpy during the day. It will take some time to turn his body clock around to match your "night & day". I know that all the gerbils/hamsters I had as a kid were nocturnal! You could hear them on those exercise wheels all night long...squeak, squeak, squeak........ LOL Answer: YEs I knew that they were noc. its just that I was wondering about him being grumpy but hes good today. and I know the requirements I wasnt sure of the genetic probs but I get it... Answer: Due to bad breeding, pet hedge hogs are more susceptable to diseases. The worst one I have experienced was "Wobbly hedgehog Syndrome" which is like MS in hedge hogs. my brothers lost control of his hind legs first and got worse daily. They ofcourse didn't let him suffer and put him to sleep. it was soo hard that my b ro, nor his room mates want another hedge hog. Wobbly hedgehog syndrome is very similar to multiple sclerosis in humans. The hedgehog slowly loses muscle control. Initially, it wobbles when attempting to stand still. Given time, the hedgehog loses all muscle control, including control of the lungs and heart. Vitamin E has been shown to delay the deterioration, but it is very temporary as a higher and higher dose is required. this is a useful website http://www.nationmaster.com/encyclopedia/Hedgehog Answer: Thats sad, Im sorry. oh thanx for the site Answer: I didn't know about thier health problems until my bro had one... a bit too late to find out. So I just like to pass the knowledge along. What'd ya name yer hog? Answer: Blizzard due to the fact that he's albino (white...) lol Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
