Question:
My vet can't tell what's wrong with my dog. It's not from a tick bite & it's not lymphoma. The lymph nodes under her neck are as big as lemons. The vet said we should go to an internist or a board certified vet. If she goes to an internist, my vet said the 1st test they'll do is test for a tick bite & lymphoma. We don't want to pay to have that done again.
Has anyone else had this problem with his/her dog? Thank you.

I've never experienced this before, but swollen lymph nodes could be the result of many different things. Could be an infection of some kind. Have you had a complete blood test done?

Yes, the vet has taken blood tests at least twice for this. Recently the blood test showed she was still a little anemic, but white & red blood cell counts were normal. Jelly had fever when she 1st came down w/this, but has none now & acts normal. The vet also did a chest x-ray. Just spoke to my hubby & the vet told him she wants to do another biopsy & if nothing comes of it, then we shd. go to a board certified vet she knows.

I wish I had an answer, but unfortunately, like I said before, swollen lymph nodes can be due to many different things. I've even heard that allergies can cause swollen lymph nodes.

I really do hope that everything works out and that she starts to feel better soon. Maybe you should take your vet up on her offer and have a specialist look at her if you can afford it.

I didn't know it could be caused by allergies, of which she has plenty. She even takes allergy shots.

The vet said it was surprising how quickly the lymph nodes had grown. Maybe this next biopsy will show something. I'm sure we'll be taking her to the board certified vet if this doesn't work out, b/c Jelly's my hubby's favorite of our 3 dogs.
