Thanks for the post. I will forward the message to rescuers in the TO area.

Exactly, and why sait until now???????? Like I said, I would go get the dog today if she wanted.

Heather

Answer:
I've also emailed, if they are in T.O I can pick the dog up / meet them as well Heather.....lets keep in touch and get this baby.

Answer:
I hate the sound of this ad. Agree - what happens by Wed.? If this puppy is even closely as described (we are all too aware of certain traits people deliberately forget to mention) I can't imagine that they would not have been able to arrange something - maybe with their vet - if they have one. We are not talking about a senior dog here but a breed that is very popular and many people want puppies.

I found an advertisement in Chatham for two 8 y/o beagles, free to good home. cant keep due to extende famiy difficulties. Therei s no reascues here and I don't know if recues should be filled up with dogs ppl want to dump as opposed to animals that truly need help.

Rescue's accept dogs for any reason, they just don't pick the ones that really need help. The difference with Rescue vs Shelter, is that Rescue has done in-home visits to be sure the family wanting to adopt the dog is good and has the dogs best intentions at heart. They also educate at the same time.

I am with Golden and Lab Rescue and if I see a "free" dog in our local newspaper, I call to not only see if they will consider surrendering to Rescue, but to also educate them on what could possibly happen to their dog. Twice now people have told me "come now and get the dog" which I have done and given to Rescue.

Safyre please forward this info to a rescue. There are beagle rescues in ontario, but I'm not sure if there are any in your area in particular. Many will arrange to have them picked up. Beagles are the breed of choice by many labs due to their friendliness. I would also call the current owners and inform them that advertising "free to good home" is a very bad idea and the reasons why.

Answer:
I found the Golden Retriever people on the net with a phone number for something else for sale.

I called and she said someone was going to see him tonight, but wasn't sure if they would take him or not!!!! She said to call back after 8:00pm to find out. Located near Milton/Georgetown. Is it someone from here? What do we do now, can someone pick him up if he's not taken at 8pm, she says he absolutely has to go. The phone number is in this ad, and it says it's okay to pass on the posting to other sites

Answer:
As of 10 pm last night, the Golden Retriever still needed a home...and she said it absolutely had to be by the weekend or else..what I don't know. They're going away, no one can look after him. She added he was great with kids. I asked how much she wanted and she said it was more important to get rid of it asap again they're going away. Luba, Goldenmom, anyone?

Shannon, you were speaking with them last night? Luba was waiting for them to call back. I pm'd you.

Heather

Answer:
My other question is.....

Are we sure this is a Golden Retriever and not a Lab? There is no such thing as a Yellow Golden Retriever, but there are Yellow Labs? Goldens have the long hair, labs short.

As I am with Lab Rescue also, this still won't be a problem getting the dog, but I need to know.

Heather

Answer:
I spoke to Goldenmom and gave her the whole story and 2 phone numbers. She is doing all she can to save this doggy.

GOOD LUCK GOLDENMOM, THANK YOU!!!!!

Answer:
WTF??? I waited home ALL EVENING for her to call me back. NOBODY called!

I can't figure these people out...I'm guessing because I indicated a rescue could take the dog immediately they just want the money.

This is horrible, any updates??

The man who I spoke to even said the dog probably isn't available anymore but I told him to have the lady call me anyway. However I THINK the dog is 'his'.
