Hanging Basket Cat

Question:
Just a funny story I wanted to relate. Two nights ago while watching TV, Thomas was crying to get into a hanging basket.
He'll cry and I usually find out what he wants and help him get it. But in this instance I told him, "No, Thomas, you can't have it". So, he keeps crying and balancing on his hind legs trying to reach it. And running around it trying to find out the best route in. And all of a sudden he leaps from my end table right into the basket, which of course contains a plant.
And not just any plant, but my beautiful enormous grape ivy. I leapt up from the couch screaming, "Get out, Get out!". But I had to go over and extract him from the plant which is very dense and he'd launched himself right into the middle of it.
I had to pull on him so hard and it's hard to reach because of my vaulted ceilings the plant hangs higher than my head. I finally got him out and told him to never do that again.
He did it again last night. When I pulled him out, he stepped on my head and got mud in my hair....Ahh...the adventures of living with Thomas!
Answer:
that's one of those things that's not very funny while it's happening, but is hilarious later one when you get to tell it!! good story!!

Answer:
So true, Tim!
Kitty's mom, I can picture the whole scene, and it's so funny. However, I know it's a problem. The good news is that Swedish Ivy is easily rooted and grown. Of course, you're going to have to stock up on shampoo or find a solution. How about one of the hanging baskets for fruit, lined with fleece? Thomas might like that.

He loves plants, so no matter where I put them he's desperate to get them. I don't think he really noticed the ivy until the last few days (observant isn't he). It's funny, because I think he was scared once he got up there.
It was swinging and twirling around so fast that he looked freaked (of course it didn't stop him from doing it the next night).
I think that if he continues to do this, I'm either going to have to remove the end table (he couldn't make the leap into the plant until I put the end table down), or raise it up higher, which will make it impossible to water without a footstool.
Thanks for the suggestion though!

You're lucky you didn't get a freaked out cat on your head--claws and all! Nevertheless, when I picture the situation, it's still funny! (I'm so bad. )
