Litter Cupboard Photos...

Question:
I finally took some photos of the cupboard my dad made for Denzel. Its not as fancy as some of the furniture you can buy, but it does the trick!
Front with door closed
Front with door open (and Denzel being nosey)
Side entrance (I had to take the photo from the top)

Answer:
Looks like the perfect cubby hole hide-out to me!
Answer:
That is awesome! I've never seen anything like that before. At each new place we move in to, I'm always struggling to find the right place for the litter box.

Same here! I was a little confused, by the name of the post at first. That is a very cool idea.
Answer:
it's very attractive and looks well-made. it does look rather small, though. may I ask what is the size of the litter box inside? thnx...

Answer:
I am gonna make little hide-outs like that in our new house.
Answer:
I bought the litter box from the vet and I think it might be a medium one or the most standard size. When I've had a look at some other shops, the one I've got is the same size as most. I got my dad to make the shelf inside removable so that we can make it higher if we need to or we remove it all together, depends on how big he gets. There's also quite a bit of room around the litter box on the inside, so a bigger one can go in there if needed too.
I've snuck in when I've heard he's gone in and taken a peak and there's plenty of room for him. That was my main concern because I did't want him to feel cramped.
I've only got a kitchen/dining/lounge combined, my bedroom and a combined bathroom/laundry, so there's not much choice for where to put the litter tray and its so much nicer when people visit and they go to the bathroom that they don't see a mess. You know how some people are, especially if they haven't had pets before, they don't understand that there's mess.
I also liked that my dad made the door with the "slats" so there's more air to go in, rather than just a solid door.
Answer:
So you live in what we call a 'Studio' apartment here in the states?
Answer:
In Australia we call a studio apartment more of an open plan, you know where its just a big space and your bed is in the same big room as your living area, etc. I suppose we just call what I have a one bedroom unit. But I love it. The more room I have, the more mess I'd make, so I think I like it this!
Answer:
actually, the vents are an inspired idea. one of the problems with most commercial covered litter boxes is poor ventilation, which traps odors inside. cats don't like the odor any more than we do.

Answer:
a studio is one room, with the bathroom being the only closed off room. your bedroom, living room, and kitchen are all one room. a "one bedroom" appartment has a combined living room and kitchen with a sepperate, closed off bedroom and a closed off bathroom.

Answer:
Thats the one Celeste_Eden. My bedroom is a separate room to the lounge/kitchen.
I thought it was good thinking on my dads part to use the door with the vents too. I've also placed a box of bicarbonate of soda in the back corner of the top shelf, coz I've heard that's supposed to help with odours too, and he can't get up there to get it. So far its been good and smells the same as it did before.
Answer:
Your dad did a nice job. They are expensive from the ones Ive seen and priced. I like the louvered door on it.

That's such a smart idea! I think I'll ask hubby if he can maybe make a couple of these for our furkids.
Your dad did a great job!
