Question:
Is it too late for a second cat with my current Siamese ?
My female Siamese is 7 months old and found its master in my husband, always on his shoulders, and sleeping in bed with him under the covers.
I feel left aside somewhat. Not that she does not like me, but much prefers following my husband.
Can I get a second cat without fear of the first one being mean to the new kitty ?

All cats are different of course, but I think your best chances for a successful introduction are when a cat is under 1 year old.

If you plan on getting another cat, make sure it's younger than your current cat and of the opposite sex, to avoid fighting..

I think it totally depends on your cat personalities. My cat is just a little over a year and she loves every cat she comes in contact w/. We are going to be introducing a kitten into our home in a few weeks. I am not nervous at all about the kitten coming to live w/ us because my cat is very sociable and friendly. I don't think the age of your current cat matters as much as their personality.

No problem getting the second cat, but examine your motives. It sounds to me like you want a second cat so it will be "your" cat. You can never predict what kind of a personality a cat will have or what their likes and dislikes will be. So to get another cat with the expectation that it will be affectionate toward you in place of the other cat, is in my opinion, the wrong reason to get another cat. Get another cat, but be willing to accept it however it might turn out.

I was a little confused about that. I know many cats that seemed to love each other and get along great. My boyfriend has two cats and I see how sad and upset the get when the othe one goes to the vet.

I think probably what was meant was that even if they don't become best buds, they will probably at least tolerate each other.
We've brought in older and younger cats into the mix. It's a toss up who they'll get along with initially, and the dynamic changes over time.
I agree though, save a stray to save it from death or just a bad time in a shelter. If it likes you too, that's a wonderful bonus!!!!
