Talked to the vet about Inky's Chemo
Question: Hey guys. I went to the vet today to talk to her about Inky's chemo. Dr. Burnett and I had a long talk about it and I have made up my mind. I'm not going through with it because Dr. Burnett told me that it may not even work. She said if Inky is feeling fine, then that's a good thing because chances are the chemo could set Inky back. She said the side affect would be that Inky won't eat. And if that's the case, the chemo could affect her more than the cancer. She said sometimes it happens. She gave me her opinion and she told me that if she was in my shoes that she would let Inky live out the rest of her life, especially if she was feeling good and eating. She said that I had made the right decision. If Inky was to go through this chemo, I would have to take her once a month and she would have to stay all day. Then, the days she's home..I would give her pills. I don't want to put Inky through it. She's feeling the best she has been in a long while. Dr. Burnett said that more than likely I will know it when Inky's beginning to slow down. So, that's the outcome. Everyone please pray for Inky to continue to feel great and pray that God isn't ready to take her from her family just yet. I want her here at least another year. But I'm taking each day at a time and praying about it every night and day. I'm not going to be sad, not as long as Inky is running around and playing. I wanted to let you guys know what the outcome was of this. I know I'm making the right decision. Answer: I will keep her in my thoughts. ~Shelly~ http://www.myspace.com/fbodgrl Zoee, Zack, Lamar & Mateo's mom and Khan my Pit Bull Terrier Answer: What kind of cancer does Inky have? I had a cat that had breast cancer. The vet I originally took her to gave her 3 months to live. I took her to a 2nd. vet and his clinic suggested surgery. She had 3 surgeries in all & lived another 3 years. Even at the very end she ate & acted well. You see, her final tumor was as big as the vet's fist and it had ruptured & was oozing very smelly stuff. It had only been 4 months since her last surgery and it just wasn't fair to her to give her yet another surgery & hard recovery. We decided to PTS. I am grateful for those 3 years. judy Answer: pookie769 wrote: What kind of cancer does Inky have? I had a cat that had breast cancer. The vet I originally took her to gave her 3 months to live. Inky has breast cancer as well. In 2003, she had a tumor that gotten pretty big. She had it removed. A month later, another one came back and I had no clue it was a tumor because I thought it was scar tissue. A month ago, she had another tumor to come up. She had another surgey, 6 of them were removed. The test results came back showing it was cancer and has spread all over her body. Answer: You and Inky are in my thoughts and prayers! http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com Answer: God bless you and Inky. Answer: pookie769 wrote: Inky has breast cancer as well. I am so sorry to hear this Please shower her with kisses & love in the time she has left. judy Answer: I will continue to pray for Miss Inky and your family through this time. ~Alexis~ As a lover of my pets, I take on many jobs, waitress, doggy butler, and the least desirable of all, bathroom attendant. But the benefits make up for it! Answer: You made the right decision, and the same one I would make in your circumstances. Inky is a little fighter and may she go on much much longer. Answer: I agree that you're doing the right thing, both for Inky's quality of life and for the quality of the time you have left together. I think that if I was faced with a similar situation, I would choose to allow Assumpta to live out her time naturally because all that vet time would make her miserable, and I wouldn't be happy doing it to her. I think you're giving Inky a special dignity and peace this way, and I wish you both the best. Answer: pookie769 wrote: Did your cat have it spread as well? He never did say if it had or not. He only mentioned the one huge tumor. judy Answer: God bless little Inky. My Precious just had two malignant tumors removed, and her fur is just beginning to grow in. I am praying that she will beat the odds. I love her so much. I'm sure God will listen to prayers for the little creatures He created.
