Cat Tattoo?
Question: Hi, I'm new to the forum and was hoping someone might be able to help me out a bit. I volunteer at my local cat shelter and tonight while doing the check, I saw that one of our cats, Striker-had a blue tattoo in his right ear. He's a bit shy and other cats tend to pick on him(we let him out seperatly)and he sometimes batts at us humans, but I finally got a good look at the tattoo and it reads A5. Does anyone know what that could mean? My friend and I were trying to think of what it could mean and we're worried that it may have been a mark from a testing facility? I guess I'm just hoping someone here will know of a better reason for that being there. He was found in the bushes outside the shelter so we don't know where he came from. Thanks in advance for any help. Answer: I know there is a clothing line from the North Face called A5. Answer: Nothing sinister or exciting, I'm afraid. Just a mark to indicate that he's neutered. Answer: Oh really? I had no idea cats got a mark for that! Striker wasn't fixed when we found him though-I've never seen our vets put any mark but I definatly will ask! If they did it would be the first time for any of our cats. Thanks for the replies! Answer: SneezerCallie wrote: Oh really? I had no idea cats got a mark for that! Many shelters tattoo them, not usually a private vet. My Simon has 3 tiny dots tattooed in his groin area to indicate that he's been neutered. ~Christine~ Answer: My cat growing up had THK56 tattooed in her ear. Since we lived in a National Park, Parks Canada required pet owners to register their pets and this is how they identified them and catalogued them. Sort of like the identifier chips. "Good Kitty, Samhainy." Answer: Could he have been a laboratory animal that escaped or was given to the shelter after he wasn't needed anymore?
