Little Drops of Pee Pee

Question:
Hi All,
I was away for a 4 night business trip and had a neighbor stop by each day to check on my cats. Last night I was looking around to make sure there were no "accidents" etc in the house and a I noticed on the tile in the kitchen that there were two yellow dots of dried up liquid, which I am assuming is Pee Pee. I am wondering if one of my girls is having a problem all of a sudden or if it is common for a drip or two to fall off of them after coming out of the litterbox and I never noticed before because I always clean but this time I was analyzing the floor? Both drops were within three feet of the litter box.
Thanks for listening!
Monica

I have 3 girls and never seen that problem,
so would recommend you have them checked right away,
small problems compound into bigger problems real fast.

I agree. I've got 4 girls and have never seen that. It could have just been a "can't get there fast enough" deal like mentioned above, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Answer:
Check and see if any of your kitties take trips to the box more often than usual, and even spending too much time in there. Also, peeing other than the box it is not good because if in pain the cats will associate that with the box and refuse to go pee in there.
Little drops of pee is a sign of Urinary Tract Infection. It is in general a puzzle what causes it, but stress is a huge factor - and with you being gone - that could add up.
UTI is a very serious condition if not tended to right away.
Observe attentively your kitties' behaviour and see if any of the above apply. Then you'll know you have to go see a vet asap.
I hope it is nothing serious!
explore, doubt and discover for yourself what is the truth.
Answer:
Yup, first thing I'd think of would be a FLUTD (formerly UTI). The infection is extremely burning and painful, just like for humans. By the time the drops start, the bacteria's been raging already. Usually the first sign is less clumps in the litterbox, or multiple small clumps. My Ginza had multiple drops all around the bathroom floor when he had an episode.
Another symptom is that the cat takes a really long time to pee, up to 10 minutes, and goes multiple times. Also frequent grooming of the genitals.
As mentioned in earlier replies, my vet also says stress is a very common trigger. Not enough water intake, non-acidic foods, not enough protein, etc. also contributing factors.
Incontinence (inability to hold pee) usually only happens to elderly cats. I don't know if the suspect kitty is a senior.
The vet can take a direct urine sample from your kitty, provided she has enough in her bladder. The test only takes 10 minutes.
Good eye in catching it, hope to hear progress soon!

Hey All,
Just thought I'd post an update for any who were interested. After I posted my question on the forum I kept a real close watch on my girls and around the litter box. A few days went by and I only saw one new drop. Then the next day I noticed Miss Jingles coming out of the litter box. She jumped up on our glass kitchen table (which is where we keep their food to avoid ants) and sat down for a rub. When she stood up there was a wet spot. So at this point I at least figured out WHICH cat was having a problem. I called the vet and he said if she was still eating and drinking and acting normal that I should first go and get her hiney shaved to make sure its not just a Pee in the hair problem, and then if there were still drops of Pee to bring her in. She is a Maine Coon and has very long beautiful hair. So we went in for a hiney shaving that day (boy oh boy, that was fun for both of us!). It has been at least a week and I have not seen one more drop. Yeah!
Thanks to all for your advice!
