Cutting a cat;s hair?

Question:
I was wondering if I would be able to cute Sunny's hair. it's so hot here that with all her hair, she's bound to be really really hot. is this recommended? I know she'll be coming in the garage, but when she goes outside in the run, I don't want her to be hot to the "heatstroke" point. She can't stay in ALL day, she;d freak! Any info greatly appreciated.

Answer:
Probably be best to have an experienced groomer do it.

Answer:
I'd be able to do it. I'd have to with my mom's help. The groomer's around here charge UP the roof! It's crazy what a simple litle NAIL trimming costs.

Answer:
Yes, getting a groomer to do it can give you some insight on how it's done, their skin is very delicate. Is she a long hair cat?
And yes, the heat does effect cats, so your concern will hopefully find a good way to be sure Sunshine doesn't have a problem. Around here they have been advising for people to keep their pets inside during the hot weather.
Answer:
she's a longhair. There is one mobile pet salon by me. I'll have to look into them. Other than that it's like $50.00.

I found Sunshine's picture, , and being she is still so young, don't think that getting a haircut would be a good idea at this time. I would let it go for this summer, the hair also keeps them warm, and at nite she could get cold. You might want to ask how old she should be before you get a trim in the Health and Nutrition section.
Just brushing her everyday should keep the excessive hair down enough she would be fine, of course plenty of fresh cool water during the day. She has beautiful deep blue eyes. I do have a longhair who gets a hair trim during the summer, we start with a medium long and go to shorter as summer progresses, she also has blue eyes, I haven't gotten around to posting pics yet though, but she is mostly white highlighted by the light orange like on your kitten.

Ok, I'll wait until she's older then. I always make sure she has fresh water, my mom always goes out there to refill two dishes. Thanks for the eyes comment. I'd luv to see pics if you can get them. She sounds pretty, your kitty.
