Large scratches on my chest.
Question: I woke up this morning and went to the bathroom to take a shower and as I was disrobing I noticed 3 large (5 inches long) scratches across my chest. I am kinda freaked out because I would have thought it would have woken me up and I am pretty sure they weren't there yesterday. I don't think I scratched myself in my sleep...my nails are not that sharp. If it was a cat attack I can only suspect Chester. I washed it and put some Neosporin on it. I just hope I don't scar because they are very big scratches. Also I just dont' know what to do about this.....It is hard to keep the cats out of the bedroom because they beat on the door. Chester manages to wake me up either way by clawing at the curtains which are right next to wear I sleep. He gets on the window sill and will occasionaly leap at me from behind the curtains. The window sill is butted right up against my side of the bed. I just had to have a kitten....... ~ Kris ~ Proud mother of 2 furry children - Willis and Chester. Answer: I've found mystery scratches a few times before and fortunately none of them left any scars and they healed quickly. I've had other punctures and scratches (all accidental) from cats and even the nastiest ones eventually healed with no remaining marks in the skin. Avoiding infection is the key and it sounds like you're on top of that. I wouldn't worry about not waking up. You were probably just sleeping very deeply when it happened and I'm pretty sure your level of conciousness was altered but if you didn't wake up all the way you most likely wouldn't remember the event itself. I've slept thru some pretty bizzare incidents (car wreck right in my front yard ) yet I have also had nights where every little noise woke me up. Go figure. Answer: thanks for the replies. I tend to scar pretty easily unfortunately. I have quite a few scars on my leg from when Chester was a tiny kitten and would try and jump on my lap and would use his claws for leverage. After a few months they are still there. I will try to stay positive. It almost doesn't seem possible that they are from a 9 month old kitten. Looks more like something a catamount or bobcat would do. hrmm..... ~ Kris ~ Proud mother of 2 furry children - Willis and Chester.
