Question:
I did something today that made me feel really good, so excuse me for tooting my own horn, but I wanted to share because I thought it might make other folks smile too.
I was driving home from my doctor's appointment today, and I was feeling really depressed. I've got too much on my plate right now and it's really been weighing me down.
There's a spot on the way back to my home where a lot of homeless people come to beg. I try to give when I have something. Today, there was a man sitting on the curb clutching to him a young pit bull. He was holding the dog and rocking like he needed the comfort, and he looked so dejected. (true to most homeless people's pets that I've seen, the young dog looked to be in fabulous health!) Something inside me just snapped.
I went over to Subway and bought a big sandwich, then went to the store and grabbed two bage of dog food. I drove back to where he was and gave it all to him, much to his enthusiastic delight.
When I drove back by a few minutes later, he wasn't looking dejected, he was playing animatedly with his dog and they both looked so happy. I also saw that he had given half of his sandwich to another needy man who had come by.
I hope I see them again, I'd love to see that little dog grow up and fill out. That really made my day today.
