Bird watchers
Question: While walking through the woods today I stumbled upon the site where a bird was recently killed. There was obviously a struggle. The predator left no tracks which sucks because I like to try and figure out what animal was there(we have fox, wolf, bear, and everything in between). Anyway, the flight feathers were black and yellow and about 5 inches long. The other feathers were white and black barred. I can't think of any birds around here that fit that description. No warblers here have yellow wings, no orioles. Can any birders think of a bird with yellow wings that I'm not thinking of? I'm beginning to think it was a non-native or domestic bird. Answer: This is the only bird I can think of, even though you didn't mention any red. http://www.coffeecreekwc.org/photos...bird_(male).jpg Did you see the bird's body? Maybe it's beak shape? That might help jog my brain. ETA: Could possibly be a Meadowlark: http://www.lewis-clark.org/media/im...meadowlark.jpg\ or a Golden Finch http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?i...3D1% 26hl%3Den Answer: None of those. No body, thank the lord. The feathers are all yellow with an inch of black on the end. Yellow veins throughout. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
