Menu Foods expands recall 5/2!

Question:
Yes, folks, its another pet food recall expansion. This time the addition to the recall list is due to "cross-contamination" at Menu Foods' facilities.
It's a long list. Please check out Itchmo.

Answer:
It says 30 more foods were recalled. Unreal!!

Answer:
This list INCLUDES the expanded Canada list as well; just scroll down . . . and down . . . and down!

Answer:
Be VERY careful of Itchmo...they are inflammatory and often wrong, wrong, wrong on the information they are giving out. I haven't had time to look at what they have added yet, but, you are much better off sticking with www.fda.gov and use their information.

Well, Itchmo links to the press release from Menu Foods, so I'd say that's pretty authoritative.

Answer:
Well, Mugsy, you DO have a point. the FDA site lists the code numbers and such, not jsut the brands.
Here ya go!

Answer:
Anybody can link to press releases. Using the FDA site with specific information (codes etc) for the products is way more accurate.
Like I mentioned in another post in Cat General, I feel Itchmo is inducing panic and are like the tabloid newspapers.

Answer:
Fine. I won't post here about the recalls any more.

That's kind of what I meant.
CID...I wasn't trying to be nasty, I just wanted people who were not aware of the FDA website to be able to check there as well. It truly was nothing personal.

You weren't being nasty. Not to worry. I just don't think my efforts to keep people here on top of things are appreciated, so I'll let everyone find their information in whatever way they want.

Answer:
I appreciate the updates. Thanks for posting.

Thank you! I continue to recommend checking Itchmo, Pet Connection, and Pet Food Tracker. Sorry to be a "panic monger," but with a cat who became critically ill after eating recalled foods, I happen to be pretty upset over this issue.
It would be one thing if it were a one-time recall instead of one that's been announced in bits and pieces extending (so far) over the course of nearly two months. But given that we've learned that Chinese producers have been adulterating food products with melamine for years, and given that pet food companies have admitted that at least one manufacturer has been adding suspect ingredients (allegedly) without their knowledge, I think that the burden has shifted to pet food producers to prove that their products are safe.
And as for trusting the FDA or any federal government agency to be proactive in protecting us, I have one word: "Katrina."

Hey, I resent that remark. I appreciate your information. I go to Itchmo.com each day to get an update. I'd rather go to Itchmo than the FDA website anyday. And of course, I come to POTD to get up to date info too.

Answer:
Ok, I'm confused!!!
Didn't this company tell us all the food is safe now? So, why are they still recalling foods??????
