Well, I've Never Heard Such A strange Story

Question:
Doctor Removes Spiders From Boy's Ears
Boy Had Complained Of Earache
POSTED: 8:42 am EDT May 6, 2007
ALBANY, Ore. -- A 9-year-old Oregon boy who complained of an earache was a little surprised when the doctor told him that a pair of spiders had tried to make a home out of him.
Jesse Courtney said it felt like the tiny spiders were "walking on my eardrums."
His mother, Diane Courtney, said her son insisted he kept hearing a faint popping in his ear -- "like Rice Krispies" -- before the earache sent them to the doctor.

The doctor flushed Jesse's left ear, and the first spider came out, dead. The other spider took a second dousing before it emerged, still alive. Both were about the size of a pencil eraser.
Jesse was given the spiders -- now both dead -- as a souvenir. He's already taken them to school to show his classmates.

Answer:
Thanks for that...... lol now that I am thoroughly creeped out and have the heebie jeebies lol. I will now sleep with ear plugs in

Answer:
When I was in high school, a friend of mine got a water beetle stuck in her ear. She felt something on her ear, and rubbed it... she was asleep so it was a natural reaction. But that caused the bug to go INTO her ear canal. Then it lodged onto her ear drum and she ended up having to have surgery to get the little thing to let go. She had a little bit of hearing loss, temporarily, because of that. Now I am paranoid about bugs near my ears!

Answer:
Oh I feel sick!! GAG! How awful for that little boy. He is much more brave than I am. I would not be taking them to school or anywhere except the toilet for a good flush! Liz this is truly a most strange story! Sparks19 I need to be getting some earplugs too!

Answer:
I'm with the boy in the story. I'd be bringing the spideys in for show and tell also!

Answer:
Ugh. That reminds me of when my Dad got a moth stuck in his ear many many years ago. If I remember the story right, he had to go to some kind of specialist to get it out. I couldn't imagine how much of a headache that would cause!

Answer:
I have heard of that. I watch those ER stories on TLC and a few years ago, a girl had come in because a roach had crawled in her ear while she was sleeping. It got really deep, too. The story was kind of humorous because the doctor that had to remove it was terrified of roaches. Well, he got it out but somehow it got on him. He stripped off his ER clothes and was running around because it got on him. I would have done the same thing. I can't stand bugs and roaches are the worst! And to think of that happening in your sleep creeps me out to no end. Makes me not want to sleep.

Heck yeah... On the "little boy coolness scale", showing off the spiders that made a nest in your ear is like a 15.

Wow, it's true, huh? I remember all those "urban legends" our moms told us when we were young about girls with beehive hair-dos who got roaches in their ears & heads because they never washed their hair!
I had my ears "coned" once, it's an old Indian method for removing debris from one's ear canals. Cones (like a funnel) are made of strips of cloth & wax. One end is inserted into your ear, and the other end is lit, and it creates a draft that draws stuff up out of the ear canal. The woman who did it swears she often sees bugs come out of peoples' ears. Creepy.
