possible infection after spay
Question: Well i took princess to the vet to get spayed the weekend after halloween and everything went well but then recently i have noticed that on her belly where her stiches were she now has bumps and im not sure if she is irritating it herself or what. but it looks red and there severalk little bumps on her belly anyone else experience this I have to take her to the vet but im just curious if anyone elses has had this problem Answer: Have you had the stitches removed? Answer: Are the bumps bright red ? Yellow-whitish ? Hard or squishy ? You say "where the stitches were" so I ssume they were either removed or have dissolved. Do you see or can you feel any stitch-bits sticking out ? Scar tissue will stay red until it heals to a bright white and eventually fades away almost completely but you can generally tell the "normal" red of healing from the "angry" red of infected. Not every Vet is a natural cut 'n sewer ~ I know I personally had a scar line that made other surgeons gasp. Answer: My Tobey had this when I got her spayed. I can't remember what the vet said it was, but she told me not to worry. It went away on it's own after a few weeks. That being said, if you are concerned it wouldn't hurt to call your vet. Answer: When we got ours spayed, they told us that the dissolvable stitches will cause the lumps. I think a little redness is normal, but if there is swelling or draining, definetly have her looked at. My philosophy is better be safe than sorry. Good luck!
