Leo + neuter = shaking after the fact...
Question: I'm just curious...he got neutered yesterday and he seems fine but he's been sleeping all day (cool awesome normal) but when I picked him up and moved him then set him back down on the bed he started trembling...all over trembles...if he moves around too much I think he trembles too...he was a bit yesterday as well... Is that pain or a reaction or am I just being a worry wart? Megan Answer: argh!! don't you just hate that they can't speak to tell you where it hurts IF it does?? i think it's normal that he's sleepy, he's recovering, his body is healing up the wounds. Humans experience that kind of stuff after they have surgery too. My kitties didn't tremble after spaying, and this is in no way a professional diagnosis, but could the trembling be because he is weak from the operation? Poor baby probably is in pain, maybe you should get some pills from that from the vet. i can't be more of help, to know what to do for them when they're hurt you'd need to know exactly what's bothering him. He could be in pain, but then he couldn't be. I am not for random medication in case the pet doesn't need it, but who knows?? ACK! maybe i shouldn't have posted a reply i'm of no help Answer: Megan,if this continues I would call the vet. I have had many male cats neutered, they would sleep at first, but after a few hours were their normal selves. Never have I thought they were in pain and I've never had to give painmeds. Spaying is a little more complicated, but neuter is an easy procedure(I never asked the cats ) Answer: Definitely call the vet. It could be effects from the sedative... better safe than sorry. Answer: bah serves me right for not checking this earlier....damn vet's closed at six... I can't get there to get meds either....I have to walk which is 20 minutes... I'll call tomorrow and keep Leo in the bedroom again tonight...he's fine when he's sleeping but damn is he sleeping...very purry adn very cuddly though....like I said a total 180... He also got his Rabies shot when he was under.....would that be part of it? When he does get up to eat/drink he is pretty alert...a little sluggish like but for the most part he'll chase after the catnip balls and stuff... Megan Answer: I think he's going to be okay. I had a cat that reacted the same way once. It took him 2 days to get completely back to normal. If Leo isn't his normal off the wall self tomorrow then call the vet. Answer: I hope he's gonna be ok... He's been super sleepy...when he has woken up he hasn't really eaten much...I saw him pee a few times (maybe three) and poop once today....he's barely eaten anything and hasn't really drunk anything... The only thing he'll touch atm is the Fancy Feast (which is Dart's not his)....and at the moment he doesn't want the fancy feast either....he doesn't seem to want to do much....not really interested in the toys either...but that could be just cuz he's been sleeping the entire day... the other two are keeping away from him so that's been ok....and no licking or scooting (which is kinda worrisome because at least he was doign that the day before).... I'm gonna call the emergency clinic in town and see if they have any answers/opinions.... update: lady said that unless he's not responding at all to take him in or if he does something totally strange to do the same...also said that if he doesn't eat by tomorrow to give the regular vet a call to see if they want to recheck him....I feels much better...I am a worry wart aren't I? Megan Answer: Megan, yes, you are....but we all are at times. That's why we love our pets so much and would do anything for them. Answer: Megan, who is Dart??? Do you have 3 cats or is Dart a dog? Answer: How's he doing today? My cats get super sleepy and dopey after being put under, but they don't get the shakes. Maybe it is just a bit of pain? Hope he's ok. Answer: Chico, Dart is another kitten that she's looking after for a friend. There's pics of him on another thread somewhere. Megan, how's Leo today? Answer: Dart is my friend's cat....she's staying with me for the next few weeks because her landlord kicked her out in 48 hours (probably illegal but she hadn't been paying rent for a while so I don't blame him either...I do blame the state of the room (mold and mice) on him though...he's putting someone else in that room too!)....she really can't afford him and I'm beginning to wonder if I just might have to take him even though I can't either....Won't mention it to her though....not yet anyway....I hope I don't have to take him (because I wish she'd take responsibility and because I definately can't afford him) but I do really like him too....He's about 6 weeks old and still has worms so I get to deworm him *shakes head* Well I called the vet today and she's gotta call me back (got her at lunch time lucky me!) so I don't quite know what's going on....I really hope they won't charge for this because we're running out of money....:( I'm less worried about the sleeping all day and more worried about him not eating anything in the last 24 hours....I know for sure he hasn't eaten anything since this time yesterday (kept him in my room overnight with food and it hasn't been touched) because he slept all night....and all day....*sigh* He hasn't shaken in a while and he's a bit more alert today, but he's still really sleepy...when he's active its not too bad, he'll chase after the balls and stuff but only for five minutes or so (not the like 1/2 hour I'm used to)....but even that is hard to get him to do.... Ugh it doesn't help that this is my first cat...lol...at least I'm gonna know what's wrong/right when Pawz goes in Megan Answer: Went to the vet...apparently he's got a fever (hence the not eating)...WE think he got the fever from Dart who seems to be a bit sick (cough/sneezing kind of stuff)...he was rather active at the vet's office though, but no where near what he should be... We have some meds for him, we bought a piller for the both of them (so OUR hands don't get bitten) and all seems to be good in the world.... Leo actually wanted to get up on the back of the couch today! He's getting better but still isn't himself... Apparently we can't deworm all three cats unless the vet sees Dart...which we nor the owner can afford...so we can try deworming our two (after Leo's done these meds) but it still won't get rid of the problem....*sigh* I don't know what to do...
