Odd wire(stitch) stikcing out 2 weeks after spaying.
Question: My b/f and I adopted 2 kittens from the local Cats Protection in July, and they were spayed 2 weeks ago. They both did great. One week ago they both developed an odd lump under the incison site, they both went into the vet and we were told it is a common reaction to the dissolvable sutures as they were both eating, playing and usuing the litter tray as normal. I read online it was common as well, but they went into the vet anyway to be sure. Now 2 days ago we both noticed that Loki has a very long wire sticking out of her incison site. 1 day later we noticed Suzie also has it but to a lesser degree, Suzie also developed the lump later than Loki. Neither one of them seems in any way bothered about it, it is not red or oozing anything. They are both eating, using the littler tray, drinking and doing everything else that 8 month old kittens do. I'm just curious if they're pushing the wire out and it is normal? Or should we get to the vet and have it removed? I dare not do anything since I don't know what it is attatched to on the other end. I'm glad it's over the x-mas break so I can get Loki to stop pulling at hers when she does her normal tummy cleaning. What is it and why? Thanks very much Taylor Answer: A similar thing happened with my dogs' stitches when they were neutered. I took them back to the vet and had them remove/trim whatever was sticking out as I was worried about something getting caught or not healing properly. It wasn't a big deal at all, but I was glad to have the vet take a look and make sure the area was healing well. Answer: Oh good, I just get so worried sometimes lol. I've had 2 cats spayed before, but I don't recall the lump/ stitch sticking out at all. Though neither of them has had their fur coming in very well, so it makes it all stand out that they're still bald as babies. Answer: Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
