Yesterday we had the tails of our litter of 7 pups from our Smooth Fox Terrier docked. What is the length they are to be left with? I think they are too short. Could the vet be predjudiced against us having them done and not been caring enough to do a proper job? Because now the pups are not show quality.

I take it this is your first time breeding?Are the parents show quality?Do they have any titles?Have they been health and genetic tested?

The reason I ask is,any responsible breeder would know how far the tail must be docked.

So to answer your question.The tail should be 1/3.Which means from the tip.

Also,this breed can be shown with the tail.It is not a fault.
