cat ate bird
Question: 2 days ago, I noticed my cat had vomited up some liquid with a bit of feather in it. I assume she ate a bird, as she has a nasty ahbit of catching them and killing them. My problem is since then she has not eaten and drinks very little water, and walks very very slow. Will she recover on own ? Do I NEED to take to vet ? Is there anything I can do to help her ? She is 1 yr old. Please help. I love this kitty.:( Answer: I think a trip to the vet may well be in order. Since cats who live outside kill birds regularly, I would think that if she is acting abnormal, she may need to be seen. Birds carry some pretty nasty diseases, including West Nile. I would take her in just to be looked over even if she wasn't showing signs of not feeling well. Answer: Take her to the vet. Maybe she got worms from it? I don't know, do birds actualy carry worms? Answer: Birds carry all sorts of parasites, including worms. My own indoor/outdoor cat had to be wormed regularly from dining on birds and squirrels, etc. Birds can also eat poisoned grain left out for rodents. This cat needs to go to the vet ASAP.
