Please help! I don't know what's wrong with my dog

Question:
Yesterday I left my dog in the backyard when I left, when I came home and let him in he was acting really strange. He won't hardly move and when I go to pick him up he gives out the loudest scream. He's just lying here and won't even respond when I call his name. He's not throwing up or anything like that. I took him to the vet today and he had no fever or broken bones, they also didn't understand what is wrong with him. He is just a little dog and is only 3 years old. Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong with him??

Answer:
Anything could have happened. A dog outside alone, my guess is it could be poison or some sort of toxin from a passerby.

Answer:
Did the vet keep him? Run some tests?

Answer:
It could very well be a pulled muscle or neck or spine injury which would not necessarily show up in x-rays. Most of my dogs injuries have occured outside it can be slips and falls on ice, slushy snow, wet grass or mud, they have while running collided into one another, into trees and into the fence, fell on the steps outside, ran into things out in the yard cutting themselves, got angry with another over a collision and nipped, play nipping too rough, leaving a wound cut themselves on objects, jumped over another or over the pond and landed wrong, punctured themselves of shrubs, they difference is I am outside supervising the dogs when they are outside so I witness the injuries, if they are severe enough to warrant a vet visit I can related what happened so they vet can better diagnose non apparent injuries, if he can't pinpont the injury or if recovery is not going well I then take them to a chiropractor, Sunnys first back injury occured after a fall, the vet had prescribed and antiflammatories but though Sunny stopped screaming when he moved he was still unable to get on the couch had troubles with stairs and lifting his leg to go pee and was no longer running and playing, 2 months later still no improvement, at the time there was only a handful of chiropractors in Ontario so I had one recommended to me and then drove an hour and half to get there, they found problems in his hip, knee and back where their was misalignment and nerves being pinched, he was adjusted and within 48 hours was back to his former self again, the chiropractor had told me that animals respond even better to chiropractic treatment than humans but I never would have dream he would improve so much in only one treatment, it was well worth the time and money. X-rays as good as they are don't always show alignement problems depending on the angle taken from and they do not show pinched nerves, a well trained chiropractor is able to find them and they know what nerves do what to be able to isolate where problems are located, in some cases where the problem is muscular they can find that and offer exercises or massages that you can do at home to help speed the healing

Here is a listing of certified animal chiropractors in the event you'd like to give it a try http://www.avcadoctors.com/

Answer:
Where any blood tests done at all? Because you didn't see what happened, it would be nice to know what is going on if at all possible. Like OG said it could be a pulled muscle or something like that, but like Prin said, he may have gotten into something poisonous. There have been cases of people intentionally poisoning dogs, so always be aware of that possibility.

If no tests were done, I would definetly go back to see if the cause can be determined. Better to be safe than sorry
